Devoted father, Craig Wilson, undertook the excruciating challenge of having his body hair waxed in support of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
Craig bravely faced an evening of intense pain, sacrificing hair from his back, legs, chest, and even his underarms to raise vital funds for the unit that have supported him and his wife through a challenging period in their lives.
The wince-inducing event raised an amazing £449 for the unit, which will go towards improving patient wellbeing on the ward.
Craig said, “I decided to support East Cheshire NHS Charity after all the help the Early Pregnancy Unit have given to my wife and me.”
“Unfortunately, we have had a few miscarriages and life never felt so low. As a male I felt so lost and helpless, and I never realised how many times this does happen.”
“I felt like I could give a little back to the unit who help people through these hard times, the moments of joy of finding out everything is ok and when they help put people’s minds at rest.”
“If it wasn’t for the unit helping us through that difficult time alongside the effort they put in, I don’t think we would have the happy little boy we have today.”
Rachael Benson, Antenatal Clinic Manager and Midwife said, “A huge thank you to Craig for his efforts in raising for the unit and we are grateful that the funds raised will be able to help support more families requiring the use of our service”.
