Youngsters on the Children’s Ward at Macclesfield Hospital were given a surprise Christmas visit from staff at Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust over the festive period.

Thanks to donations from the club’s supporters, children and their families were given gifts from members of the Community Trust who were joined by East Cheshire NHS Trust Chair, Aislinn O’Dwyer and Chief Executive, Ged Murphy.

Children’s Ward Manager, Claire Finley said: “On behalf of the Children’s Ward at Macclesfield District General Hospital, I just wanted to say a big thank you to Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust for their continued support ever year in donating gifts for children staying with us over the Christmas period, your amazing, thank you.”

Macclesfield FC and the Community Trust have continued to spread festive cheer on the ward with their annual visits over the Christmas period, including dropping off gifts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lee Folkard, Head of Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust said: “Again our fans and local community have excelled themselves in helping us to buy gifts for the children on the ward this Christmas.

“It was great to go onto the ward this year and meet some of the children who unfortunately have been admitted just before the festive period.

“We hope that they are all home soon enjoying Christmas with their families.”
