Congleton War Memorial Hospital’s Wellbeing Garden

A tranquil new green space for patients, visitors and staff at the hospital.
The Wellbeing Garden got underway in April 2024 as part of East Cheshire NHS Charity’s Wellbeing Appeal to mark the 100th anniversary of Congleton War Memorial Hospital, which was celebrated throughout 2024.

Overseen by Congleton-based gardener Patti Pinto, with help from the local community, work has taken place on the project that will provide a welcoming, tranquil new green space for patients, visitors and staff at the hospital.

Thanks to a significant donation from the William Dean Countryside and Educational Trust, the garden provides an outdoor environment that is safe and secure and designed to promote wellness and decrease stress.

The oval shaped garden, which incorporates a rainbow-coloured theme, includes an orchard on the outer rim with a series of borders, connecting paths, a water fountain and five benches.

Patti said: “A huge thank you to everyone who has supported and helped with the garden. I am incredibly proud to have worked on this fantastic outdoor space, that will undoubtedly have a massively positive impact on the staff, patients and their families.”
