Patients on the dementia ward at Macclesfield Hospital are to benefit from new and engaging activities thanks to the fundraising efforts of staff.

16 staff from the ward alongside friends and family took on a five-mile sponsored walk across Tittesworth Reservoir to raise funds to support the Acute and Elderly Care Ward which specialises in dementia.

Over £700 was raised and will help with the refurbishment of the ward’s dementia garden and support the organisation of activities, which help patients feel more settled and engaged during their stay.

Lisa Nixon, Activities Coordinator on the Ward said: “We are pleased to raise funds to provide more activities and equipment that our patients can use and enjoy.

“Alongside this, the monies will help with the creation of a dementia friendly garden which will provide a therapeutic space and safe social environment”.
